Media Access Workshops

In partnership with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, AAJA’s media access workshops aimed to teach local community leaders, non-profits, and business owners how to “get their news in the news.” One-day workshops were  held in select cities throughout the U.S. this spring.

During each workshop, participants learned how to write a press release and received media training for on-air interviews from experienced journalists and communications executives. Each workshop also taught techniques on how to pitch a story and write an opinion piece for submission to an editorial board. It’s a great opportunity for community members to understand how news stories get placed and how you can become a stronger partner and resource for local journalists.
