2015 AAJA Media Institute Registration Now Open

Every journalist has a rolodex of go-to experts that they call on to help tell a story. The trouble is that few of them are diverse.

aaja-collageThe Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) will build upon the success of the 2014 AAJA Media Institute to organize the program for a second year. The two-day workshop will train thought leaders and help them become valuable sources to the media. Check out our online source directory featuring the 2014 Media Institute participants.

The workshop will be held August 14 – 15 in San Francisco, CA. The Media Institute will show participants how to tell their story in print, television and online formats. Led by a team of award-winning journalists, participants will learn about how a newsroom operates, get tips on becoming camera-ready and practice answering tough interview questions. By the end of the boot camp, they will also leave with a professional headshot and a video clip that demonstrates their expertise. The workshop will take place at the same time as AAJA’s 2015 national convention, allowing participants to network with hundreds of professional journalists from the industry’s top media outlets. Participants will receive complimentary registration for the convention.

Registrations are available on a first-come, first-served basis for the first 15 participants. Update: the first fifteen registrations have been filled. However, we are accepting applications to be placed on a waiting list through Friday, July 17. The registration fee for participants is $1,500 each. The registration fee must still be submitted in order to be placed on the waiting list. In the event that you do not receive a slot, your $1,500 registration fee will be fully refunded.
